Two Research Assistant Positions in Interaction design (summer 2021)

Introduction

The department of Design in Gjøvik has a vacancy for two research assistants in Interaction design to document a pedagogic project using innovative technology to facilitate remote learning during the corona pandemic.

There are two 100% positions with a two-month fixed term starting June 2021. The positions are located at the department in Gjøvik. We are looking for a candidate with some interaction design experience, in particular interest in methods and scientific writing, and design of technical and human aspects of remote learning systems. It will be an advantage that applicants have a bachelor’s degree within the academic field of Information Technology, Design or similar subject areas. Applicants that are currently in the Master of interaction design study program are encouraged to apply.

Tasks

  1. Creating documentation and instructional material for our live recording studio The department has set up a small recording and live teaching room during the pandemic, and we want the room completed by documenting how the room works so that it could be used by all people at the department. The work includes creating, testing and implementing easy to use digital and physical learning material (wall poster(s) and/or web pages), primarily accessible for the staff at the department.

  2. Collecting insight and summing up the use of Research Catalogue The department have been testing out a new online tool researchcatalogue for letting students share their written work during this last year and we would like to sum up the project by collecting insight from users (staff and students) of research catalogue in the school year of 2020-2021 and sum up the user´s experiences in the form of a report and a powerpoint presentation.

We expect candidates to be able to organise and complete the work independently, while having access to a tutor throughout the employment that can offer suggestions and guidance on methods, approach and implementation.

Qualifications

We are looking for two candidates that combined, has the following qualifications:

  1. Enrolled in one of the study programs at the department of design
  2. Good oral and written english and norwegian language skills
  3. Good practical/technical skills
  4. Documented abilities in scientific writing and research methods.

Salary and conditions

Research assistants are remunerated in code SKO 1019 (fra NOK 364 400 kroner i årslønn) For a fixed period of 2 months. It is a prerequisite you can be accessible to the institution on a daily basis.
